Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Mindful Spaces by Meredith philosophy?

I believe that organizing is more than just putting things in bins; it's about creating a sustainable environment that promotes mental clarity and peace. My goal is to help you reclaim your time and energy by simplifying your physical space.

How do I know if I'm ready for a professional organizer?

If you feel overwhelmed by your belongings, struggle to keep up with daily routines, or simply want your home to feel more intentional, you're ready. I partner with you to turn that feeling of chaos into a maintainable, joyful system.

What areas do you serve?

I currently serve clients throughout Northern Virginia. A nominal fee applies when traveling more than 10 miles from Chantilly, VA.

Do I need to be present during our sessions?

While your input is necessary during the decluttering phase, I can work under your guidance to streamline your space independently. We'll discuss your preference during our initial consultation to find the best fit for your schedule.

Will you make me throw things away?

You will decide what stays and what goes and I will guide you in the process. However, please be mindful that the more items you have, the longer it may take to organize them and there may be an increased cost to contain them.

Do I need to purchase organizing products before our first session?

I'll begin our first session by decluttering and categorizing your items. Once we see how many items remain, I can begin the fun part of containing and organizing them.

While I strive to utilize the storage containers you already own, clients often decide they'd like to purchase additional bins, drawer dividers, etc. During your first session I can create a detailed list of recommendations, you can purchase them directly from a retailer, and I'll return to install them. Alternatively, outside of your in-home session, I can create a curated shopping list for a fee of $50/hour and you can order directly from a retailer. Then, I'll return to install them.

I source items from a range of stores, including Target, Amazon, and The Container Store and will aim to select items that match your aesthetic and budget.

Are you pet friendly?

Pets are beloved family members, but for their safety and that of our organizer, please secure them away from the areas being serviced during our session.

Our session is scheduled, but now I'm sick.

If you or a household member has been ill and experiencing symptoms within the last 5 days, please contact me to reschedule your session.

What are your working hours?

Our normal working hours are Monday - Friday 9:30 am - 4:00 pm, with occasional weekend availability.

Do I need to declutter before you arrive?

While you are welcome to, seeing your home as it is allows me to spot flow issues and tailor my support to your real life. I offer a compassionate, judgment-free mindset.

Do you service smoking homes?

Due to organizers' sensitivities, we are only able to service smoke-free homes.

Services & Process

How do we start the process?

We begin with a complimentary phone consultation to discuss your specific needs and goals. This helps me tailor a plan that fits your family's lifestyle.

What happens during a session?

In our hands-on sessions, I declutter with your input, then I implement custom organizing systems. I focus on creating realistic and sustainable flow for your daily routines.

Do I need to buy supplies beforehand?

Not at all. I first assess your space and if needed, can recommend the right products for you, ensuring every bin and basket serves a real purpose.
